Here at CC Herps, we are a family-run program bent on providing optimal captive conditions for all the four-legged beauties in our collection. CC Herps, made up of Harold and Catrina Chapman is actually short for Chapman & Chapman Herpetoculture. For Harold, his interest in animals started early on in life. Raised in Chicago, there was little reptile and amphibian wild-life to take note of locally- though the occasional crawfish and catfish were regularly retrieved from the local pond and kindly placed back a little later. Some summers, he spent visiting family in southern states, where native animals of interest were a bit more available. Though inexperienced, he did manage to catch, care for, and later release various lizards in the rocky outcrops of the south.
Having kept an array of "mundane" pets, it was only natural to graduate to keeping reptiles. Catrina on the other hand, has a very specialized interest in this hobby. Specifically, she really only desires to keep the most beautifully patterned and colored species. At this point, she enjoys the hobby from a voyeur's prospective...not having initiated any pet-projects of her own. But she does find herself looking after many of the gecko projects going on at the moment. Combined, they bring integrity, creativity, and a since of seriousness (among other qualities) to a truly great hobby. Outside of keeping reptiles and amphibians, they get to work with a wonderful breed of dog known as "Perro de Presa Canario" or Dogo Canario depending on who you talk to. Working with a 120# dog on a bite sleeve is certainly an interesting break from taking care of all the others. Being able to work with all these wonderful animals has been truly rewarding and the opportunity is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our site.-Harold and Catrina Chapman
